About the Heritage Farm & Village WDM

Visit our Heritage Farm & Village, witness the challenge of turning prairie into productive farmland. The extensive line-up of agricultural equipment, which includes the gigantic 1910 Case 110 tractor, the impressive Wheat Pool grain elevator dominating the village, and the hustle and bustle in the farmyard, remind us of the important role of agriculture in the Story of Saskatchewan.

North Battleford's Heritage Farm & Village WDM invites you to experience both farm and village life.  Museum visitors can see how the farmer of the 1920s tilled his fields and planted and harvested his crop. A trip to town is only a walk along the boardwalk. Imagine delivering a load of grain to the elevator, or the train whistle tooting as the engine approaches the station. Visit the Co-op store, one of the many churches, a homes and businesses.

Winning the Prairie Gamble

The people of Saskatchewan are spirited, with their own special sense of self and pride of place. The Saskatchewan story is filled with chapters of personal achievement and social accomplishments. Farmers and fishers, scientists and inventors, flashy daredevils and unpretentious men and women - all have written chapters in our province’s history.

Centiped Log HaulerSee our 100 Year Timeline featuring hundreds of fascinating Saskatchewan facts. Scan the northern forests and the minerals underground in a display of Saskatchewan natural resources. Next, explore the innovative and adaptive strategies that farmers and scientists have applied to farming. The inventive farmer in the farm shop, the inquisitive scientist in the greenhouse, the enterprising engineer in the laboratory - all brought innovative thinking to the soils and crops, to the machinery and methods, of farming in Saskatchewan.  (more...)
