Celebrate Saskatchewan

Program Information

Students will gain an appreciation for how elements of the arts, including music, dance, drama, and visual art, are integral components of how we celebrate in Saskatchewan. Students will explore family, community, provincial, and national occasions celebrated in Saskatchewan since 1905. Emphasis will be placed on the diverse cultural groups represented in Saskatchewan. The in-museum Discovery Box program contains primary sources materials such as songbooks, posters, photographs, and artifacts from Saskatchewan's past for students to compare and discuss. In-classroom lesson plans analyse specific artistic elements from past and present celebrations and challenge students to explore artistic expressions characteristic of diverse cultural groups in Saskatchewan.
