Métis Farming in Saskatchewan


Program Information

Students will learn the historical background of Métis farming in Saskatchewan, including riverlot farms and how the aftermath of the North West Resistance of 1885 affected Métis communities and farms. The in-museum Discovery Box contains a replica scrip certificate, river lot diagrams, grain samples, and more. In-classroom lesson plans will divide students into groups to debate government policy and lead students in learning about 'road allowance people."
