In addition to programs offered at all of our exhibit locations, the WDM offers special seasonal and trademark programs at each location throughout the year.
Valentine Program
Overview: The Valentine Program
celebrates the spirit of caring and sharing. This program is a museum led
program. A Museum scavenger hunt,
wagon/sleigh ride, snowshoeing and crafts are all part of the fun.
Grades: K-3

Wheels N Runners
Overview:
“Wheels & Runners” is a two hour teacher-led education program
based on the theme: transportation has played important roles in the
development of Saskatchewan communities. Students will interact with
transportation related artifacts, make a take-home
craft, and tour the museum.

Easter Program
Overview:
The Easter program is experiencing traditions and spending time with family and
friends. We will give an educational experience using our exhibit galleries and
the museums impressive collection of artifacts. Includes an Easter
activity/craft, petting zoo, scavenger hunt, and storytelling. The Western
Development Museum will provide everything for the program, except supervision
for the children. Our ratio for supervision is 1 adult per 6 children. All
groups need to be divided before your visit.

Museum Days
Overview:
An education event
geared toward elementary grades K-7. Students have the opportunity to
learn using Museum artifacts to provide a firsthand
glimpse to learn how life was lived in the
1920's. Activities such as butter & ice cream
making, twisting twine into rope, 1920's crafts,
many farm demonstrations and interpretations
will be highlighted during our museum days.

ABC Box
Overview: A teacher led program
featuring an artifact for every letter of the alphabet. We will provide a
script for the teacher and all supplies.

School Threshing Demonstration
Overview:
A dedicated crew of staff and volunteers recreate harvests of
yesteryear. The progression of harvesting techniques over time are
demonstrated. Students will be taken along on a journey from hand power,
to horse-power to mechanization.
