March 10 - Cowboy Poets The Mitchell Boys
Cocktails:
5:00 p.m.
Roast Beef Supper: 6:00 p.m.
Cowboy Poetry to follow.
The
Mitchell Boys
of Moose Jaw go riding
across the prairies every season,
intent on respirating their repertoire
of rhyme and frontier humour
for the good folk of Saskatchewan.
Their shows include Rhyming Wranglers,
No Ordinary Cowboy, and
Service with a Smile.
The latter features the poems
and stories of Yukon pioneer
Robert Service,
and first premiered at
Regina’s “Artesian on 13”
last March.
Brother Slim is a cowboy poet, concrete engineer, and performer.
At his XM Bar spread just south of Moose Jaw, he
wrangles dogs, cats, cement trucks and potbelly porkers -- all the
while devoted to his three children and lovely Missus, Cyrenne.
Brother Don is a city councilor and former mayor of Moose Jaw, and
organic food producer, and the author of The Politics of Food.
He is also a Scottish dancer and a piper with the Celtic folk band,
Desperate for Haggis.
Brother Ken is a theatre producer, playwright, former English
professor, and entrepreneur. His dramas such as Cruel Tears,
The Hounds of Notre Dame, Gone the Burning Sun, and Heroes
have been performed worldwide.
Niece Joule Tallman is the Mitchell
clan’s prime protégé and, so far, most
eloquent musician. She is also a rancher, horse
trainer, farrier and cow performer, who lives in
the Vanscoy district. We are not allowed to reveal
her taste in men or liquor.
Cost: $20.00 per person
