The Expert Series is a series of lectures by specialists in the community about various green building topics. The topics range from green mortgages to photovoltaic cells, with speakers from many different fields.

Pioneer Camps

We are pleased to offer two summer camps for children this summer. From July 18-22 we offer the Little Pioneers Kids Camp for children ages 7-9 years old and the Living History Young Pioneer Camp August 15-19 for ages 10-11. The Camps give children an opportunity to learn about pioneer life through games, stories, crafts and hands-on activities. These are five day camps that take place from 1-4:30 pm each day. Historical Texts of the Great Depression

Instructor: Glorie Tebbutt

Class Dates:
Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.;
September 27, October 4, 11, 18, 25,
November 1, 8 and 15, 2011.

Class Description:
What came to be known as “the dirty 30’s”
shaped the consciousness of a generation and shattered the dreams and hopes of many families. To encourage discussion of the “different and subtle ways” that the Great Depression affected people, we will read the following three texts: Max Braithwaite’s Why Shoot the Teacher, John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath and Richard B. Wright’s Clara Callan.
